A walk along the Kattegat Coast can take you past the rare 37 m high cliffs at Røjle Klint. Millions of years ago, the Kattegat was home to gigantic killer sharks and is now one of the best places in Denmark to experience what happened in Denmark during the ice ages.

Whether you prefer walks, cultural heritage or leisure activities, the Hindsgavl Peninsula is a favourite spot with open plains, old beech forests, wetland meadows and steep slopes. The area has large and varied animal and plant populations as well as many exciting stories, moats, ruins and activities.

The Lillebælt Trail in Middelfart, perhaps Denmark's most beautiful walk. You stroll along the coast on gravel paths, cycle lanes, footpaths in untouched forests, past beaches in the Lillebælt Nature Park.

At the head of Strib Odde stands the prominent 21 m high, whitewashed Strib Lighthouse, overlooking the Little Belt and its bridges. Here you will experience beautiful scenery, unique history and water and beaches as far as the eye can see. There is a reason why locals call Strib “The Pearl of the Little Belt”.

The fish stairway at Brende Mølle is an oasis where you can experience the water from the mill pond as it cascades down through a series of man-made plateaus. It is quite mesmerising to watch the water and listen to the sound of cascading water.

The Brænde Ådal river valley is one of Funen’s most beautiful and diverse areas of nature. The landscape in and around the river valley is characterised by many different habitat types and species. Along the 28 km long route, you will find many viewpoints that will undoubtedly impress.

Gamborg fjord is a beautiful natural environment with a rich bird population. The fjord borders with Gamborg wildlife reserve, which has existed since 1940 and is a breeding site for many aquatic birds. The fjord also has a century of history involving whaling and porpoise whalers.

Fønsvang lake is Funen's second largest lake. There is an island in the lake where wading birds are able to breed in peace. White-tailed sea eagles can often be seen by the lake and kingfishers are said to be seen regularly near the bird tower.

The hiking route at Ejby and the Kingstrup Mose marshland is a beautiful 4.5 km trip in scenic surroundings. The landscape is varied with open water bog holes, reed marshland, meadows, cultivated fields, woodland and scrub.

East of Ejby lies the Ejby Mose marshland area. This is one of Funen's largest areas of marshland. Ejby Mose is a valuable habitat for many animals and plants – 245 different plant species have been recorded and the area is home to many small birds, including nightingales.
